How is a MEP Project Executed by Service Provider Companies?

Understanding that MEP projects are not easy to execute makes the situation even more complex for contractors. For a layman, the complexities of an MEP project are even beyond imagination. In a mechanical, electrical, and plumbing project, a wide variety of engineers are involved in its completion.

A company that accepts the contract for an MEP project is always fully equipped with mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineers along with the talented CAD technicians and modelers. The knowledge of all these experts is incorporated when executing an MEP project.

The process of executing a MEP project: Many steps and stages are involved in completing an MEP project. Below are some chronological steps included in the process.

The contractor makes a consultation.: In the first step, the contractor contacts the service provider company and briefly explains the project. The company providing the solutions or services reviews the project and returns it to the customer.

The basic inputs are sent by the client or the contractor: In the second step, the client, who is normally the contractor, sends the basic inputs in the form of sketches and specifications to the company providing the engineering service. These specifications are then reviewed and reviewed by the firm’s engineers and technicians and the scope of the project is then discussed with the client.

The company finally gives its approval to the project: Once the MEP engineers study the specification and fully understand the project, it is finally approved. The information regarding the approval is provided back to the client company.

The execution of the project takes place: The work is then distributed among the experts of the engineering company. For example, if there is work related to HVAC design and drafting, it is assigned to the mechanical engineers and work related to electrical and plumbing is assigned to the respective engineers or experts.

Engineers are typically responsible for the design, while CAD technicians work in the drafting phase after the design is ready. The modelers start their work once they have the drawing documents at their disposal.

Once the models for the different MEP systems are ready, the company carries out the process of coordinating them. Issues related to discrepancies are addressed and a solution is found.

The project is then delivered to the clients in the form of 3D models and drafting documents as per the client’s requirements.
