Cheap or Free Activities to Do at Walt Disney World

So you’re spending more money than you want to, but you’re still hoping to have a great time that day at Walt Disney World. Have no fear because there are ways you can have an exceptional WDW adventure for very little money or even absolutely free. This article describes several of those options available to you.

First of all, Disney’s BoardWalk is masterfully built around a lake and is themed after Cape May or Coney Island in the 1940’s. The access point is no problem because if you are staying on a Disney property you can take the shuttle from Disney, but even if you’re not, the Boardwalk includes free 3-hour parking. The ideal time to enjoy the Walt Disney World BoardWalk is at night. It’s perfectly lit and includes street performers, cheap eats, carnival-style games, Jellyroll’s Piano Bar, Atlantic Dance Hall and much more. If shopping is your thing, head to Downtown Disney, where you’ll find a variety of shops, enticing restaurants, and great free entertainment. Again, parking is free. Some of the activities you can enjoy here are the interactive fountains, the Lego Imagination Center, free magic shows at the Magic Masters store, among many more. The best place to eat is Earl of Sandwich, where you can get a full meal for $10.

Also, each and every WDW hotel has a unique theme and some of them are impressive. All moderate and luxury resorts are worth visiting. The pools are amazing and truly a site to behold. Be sure to see Coronado Springs, the Stormalong Bay pool at the Yacht/Beach Club, and the pool at Wilderness Lodge. The lobbies also have beautiful designs and elaborate decorations that fit the theme. The best places to take family photos are the All Star or Pop Century resorts. These resorts have huge “pop culture” statues like a 35 foot Buzz Lightyear. Additionally, at WDW, the Wilderness Lodge, Grand Floridian and Yacht Club offer free tours for any Disney World resort guest.

Just ten minutes from Disney World, you can take a trip back in time to the town of Celebration, a unique community developed by the Walt Disney Company. It’s a quaint little town with a dated downtown region. Stroll the Lakeside Promenade or the many walking trails/nature trails. Depending on the time of the year, Market Street will continue with different venues such as craft festivals, vintage car shows, etc. If you’re in the mood for a movie, AMC Celebration offers state-of-the-art facilities. WDW’s fix for a sweet tooth can be found through the ice cream at Herman’s Ice Cream and can be enjoyed in a rocking chair by the lake. Finally, you can take a scenic carriage tour or rent a bike in NEVrland for around $10 for a half day.

In conclusion, these activities will allow you to take a break in the wallet for at least a day. Don’t be afraid to venture out on your own and discover new ways to have a wonderful time at WDW for little or nothing. After all, there’s enough magic on the air at Walt Disney to create fun without breaking the bank.
