Along with all the other new additions to Wrath of the Lich King, a new item type was also added: Heirlooms. These items are linked to the ACCOUNT and can only be transferred to other characters on your own account. This is an interesting idea to say the least. None of the relics are drops, but they must be found receiving rewards in the Wrath of the Lich Kings content. This content is usually taken advantage of by veteran players who are already in their 80s.
If you participate in Wotlk Content, you will find the Relics designated to aid in PVE or PVP.
Emblems of Heroism are designated more for PvE and can be found by defeating heroic bosses or completing 10- or 25-man raids. Before rushing out to buy relics with the emblems, be sure to take a look at the other items you can buy with them for your main. Relics are good for leveling up, but if you want to focus on preparing your main, be sure to check out. Look at the epic gear you can buy with your Emblems of Heroism.
