Various types of shampoos to bathe your dog

Types of dog shampoos

To keep your dogs healthy, you will need to bathe them regularly. This means at least twice a month or more. To bathe your dog properly you will need a good dog shampoo. Using a human shampoo or the wrong type of dog shampoo can cause skin irritation and itchiness.

When selecting a shampoo for your dog you need to know what type of skin your dog has. Dog shampoo is usually available for normal, oily, or dry skin, just like human shampoo. Examine your dog’s skin, if it is flaking or cracking, use dry skin shampoo. If your dog’s skin feels oily to the touch, buy the oily skin shampoo. If you don’t notice any of these conditions, then you can use a normal skin shampoo.

You need to make sure that you rinse all the shampoo out of your dogs thoroughly when you are done bathing. If shampoo residue is left on his skin or fur, your dog could ingest some if he’s prone to licking himself. This can cause stomach upset and irritation.

You may also consider using a conditioner after bathing your pet. There are basically two types of conditioners, sprays and bottles. The main difference between them is when and how they are used. Spray conditioners are used after you have finished bathing your dog and while the hair is still slightly damp and are not rinsed afterward. Bottled conditioner is used the same way we use conditioners on ourselves. Apply the conditioner after rinsing out the shampoo, then massage the conditioner into your hair, then rinse.

Regardless of the type of conditioner you use, you should comb your dog’s hair afterward. Conditioners help your dog’s coat look shiny and moisturize its skin and coat. It also helps remove tangles in long-haired dogs. Don’t forget to read the labels of the conditioner you choose to see if it contains any harsh chemicals that could irritate your dog’s skin. You should stay away from products that contain alcohol.

It’s also a good idea to choose tear-free shampoos and conditioners in case something gets in your dog’s eyes. Try to avoid shampoos with a strong scented scent. While they may make your dog smell good, they can be harmful to your dog’s respiratory system. Your dogs sense of smell is much better than humans and a strong scented scent could irritate your pet.

There are also shampoos that serve special purposes such as whitening and coloring. These are more suitable for professional dog trainers and those people who show their dogs in competitive events. They work to improve the color of the dog’s coat; but it may not be suitable for normal use. Use these types of products carefully and read the label.

Also, if your dog has ticks, you should make sure you buy a shampoo that can remove ticks. Ticks are similar to lice in human hair. They have a tendency to annoy your dog and cause irritation. Ticks can grow in size rapidly and multiply extremely quickly. This may make it necessary to bathe your dog with a special shampoo every 3-4 days.
