Toyota driver’s take on the 2006 Hungarian Grand Prix

The Panasonic Toyota Racing Team heads to Central Europe for the 2006 Hungarian Formula One Grand Prix this Saturday 6th August. The Hungarian F1 Grand Prix will take place in the capital city of Budapest, with the event taking place at the Hungaroring race track. The Hungaroring race track is said to be a long, winding circuit containing numerous bends and corners. It is also a difficult place for Formula One drivers and road test engineers due to the extreme heat and subsequent high temperatures.

Two of the most promising drivers from the Panasonic Toyota Racing Team will put their skills and Toyota wheels to the test as they represent their team at the 21st Hungarian Grand Prix. Ralf Schumacher, currently ranked sixth in the drivers’ championship, commented: “Budapest is a beautiful city that I always like to return to for the race. There are many things to do and see on the sides of the track. The race itself is always It’s been one of my favorites on the schedule, especially since there are so many fans there.

“You have to be fit enough to drive in such high temperatures and still be able to focus at the end of the race. The Hungaroring is known to be one of the most difficult circuits to overtake, so it will be very important for us to secure a good position in Last year at this race I got my first podium finish with Toyota and I hope we can repeat these results this year.”

Italian rider Jarno Trulli, ranked number seven and second behind his teammate Schumacher, also commented on his upcoming race at the Hungaroring: “After my race at Hockenheim, I will look for a better result in Hungary. I am not too familiar with the city of Budapest, but I have heard that many drivers like the nightlife off the track.

“I’m sure we can look forward to another very hot weekend and so it will be very important for us to make sure the car’s full system temperatures are monitored and kept in line. The track is also a challenge because it’s very narrow, with many curves and although it is very difficult to overtake, it is still quite a fun circuit to drive.

“The track is known to be dusty, but this can change as the dust moves, so it’s quite tricky to get the car to handle well and go fast. We had good results here last year.”
