The power of persistence – Are we really creators and authors of our own world?

I believe that we are creators of our world and that through our thoughts we make things happen for us. Here is an example from my own life. Several years ago, when my husband and I were surviving on a single income (and spending our savings to maintain that status, I might add), I dreamed of earning a second income from real estate. So, I did some research in the library reading several highly acclaimed books on the subject and settled on the strategy put forward by an Australian partnership (two men) who bought real estate in Ballarat in NSW. The system was fully portable and all of the operation was available on the ledger, including worksheets and ROI on borrowed money, so rent was enough to cover interest and mortgage payments. The approach was fully achievable and within our reach.

However, I started looking in different cities in the market within our area and there was no abundance. I probably searched the internet for such a property for about 4 weeks. It was very good to start with and I set up my filing system as described in the book and used the calculator as described. I just searched the internet and didn’t visit any of those places for sale. I decided they weren’t the perfect investment home, or there were too many renovations involved, there was too much travel involved and I wouldn’t be able to keep track of the property, or the city was full of bad tenants who would eventually burn the floorboards out of my house. my house and the list went on with all the excuses: you get the idea.

I searched for 4 weeks. The authors of the books are million dollar entrepreneurs and the successful plan would have meant that by now, if he had followed the plan, probably only one of us would be salaried and we would probably be in a very different place enjoying life. I searched for 4 weeks.

After 4 weeks, I couldn’t persist and used the evidence I had gathered to convince myself that the window of opportunity had closed when the authors wrote the book, and in fact, that was the only reason they wrote the book. book – to open another source of income. All the good opportunities had been taken by other people and there was simply nothing left for me.

Several years later, I discovered the flaw in my thinking. I’ve been working on changing my thinking and now I’m pretty sure the reason only 3% of people are rich goes much deeper than just never having set a goal. The truth is that my way of thinking was completely wrong. My proof of this is that I am now thinking much bigger and I wasn’t even looking for a proper rental investment today and it came my way. It is the perfect investment. It would require some changes for me, but it fits all the formulas that were given in the book and it shows that in life we flit from one opportunity to another trying to achieve a better life. The cycle runs its course from the eureka moment when we find the next big opportunity, to the test, then to the final decision that the opportunity simply wasn’t a good one or the time was wrong, when all along it was ours thinking that it was. the problem. Change the opportunity, you run into the small thought every time and repeat the cycle. Change the thought and any opportunity becomes gold.

The secret is to keep going. But there is more than that, because without that foundation of thinking big and knowing, people cannot recover from failure and stay focused on the goal and the result by learning from their mistakes and feeling comfortable to fail because failing is learning and failing. success will come. Like me, little thinkers focus on the things that hold them back and hope for a miracle, like winning a lottery where all you need to do is buy a ticket each week. Big thinkers are in control of their life, they know what they want and can stay focused and positive for a long time, they won’t settle for something they don’t want or a life they don’t like to live and they are always looking for ways to make things happen. things work.
