My cat Pearl was born in March 2000 in New York, where we lived. She was a healthy young cat who suddenly began displaying recurring flu-like symptoms in the spring of 2002. The vet initially said she was probably nothing serious.
After three or four times on antibiotics, followed by improvement each time, Pearl, my sweet kitty, began to have mobility problems. I could see her having trouble controlling her heritage. Paralysis was setting in.
A series of tests were taken: blood tests, X-rays, urinalysis, etc.
She was very worried at this point and kept feeling like she had a virus that was attacking her nervous system.
I had been a professional Intuitive Psychic and Healing Medium for eleven years at that time.
But this was my baby, the beautiful and loving kitty that I rescued from my backyard.
‘Objectivity’ was not my strong suit at the time, which is a ‘must have’ for accurate psychic information.
Then came the terrible news of a specialized blood test. Pearl had a horrible disease called Feline Infectious Peritonitis FIP, a disease that is sure to be fatal, supportive care only, with no known cure. Cats usually die within a few months.
He was devastated as he had just lost another beautiful kitten to cancer.
I couldn’t believe that fate was giving us this fate.
The vet gave me little to no hope.
Pearl received the usual care, prednisone for pain and suppression of the immune system, thus preventing the disease from progressing, and fluid therapy for hydration.
As horrible as the situation got, I didn’t give up.
I decided to do research on this rare disease that was so feared and dreaded by the veterinary medical community.
I found the website of a vet in England. She was an expert on this particular disease and explained, in great detail, how it attacks and affects the animal’s body.
After reading your information, I decided to do some research on natural/homeopathic medicine. I found out what the virus was doing to Pearl’s body and treated it as such. At that moment, she was totally paralyzed.
The vet strongly pushed me to “put her to sleep” because there was no hope. I blatantly refused which angered the vet that he obviously had some ego and control issues. My feeling was that he would do anything and everything he could to help Pearl. So if the Divine saw fit to take this lovely cat away, so be it.
My intuition guided me. I started Pearl on a twice daily regimen using the following: Spirulina to detoxify and oxygenate the blood, Vitamin C for the immune system, Vitamin E for the healing process, Omega 3 fish oils, Oregano oil for infections, Lecithin for signals from the brain to the spinal cord, Aloe Vera for inflammation, and wheatgrass juice as a cleanser.
The premise, as in holistic health care for humans, was to cleanse the colon that carried all the toxins and diseases and then use the vitamins and supplements to rebuild the body again.
Within two weeks of using this twice daily treatment, Pearl started moving again. She went from being totally paralyzed to walking… slowly gaining strength each day.
The vets were flabbergasted, but still saw this as a temporary “wind of luck” unrelated to my actions.
I was not affected by his prognosis and continued to do the “concoction” twice a day. He knew he was helping Pearl. She would see the dropper coming at her and fear that this nasty concoction would be pushed down her throat, but just like children, animals don’t like to take medicine from her! But they have to, so I made sure he did.
I continued this method for months and Pearl kept getting better. I switched to another vet, who was more of a ‘team player’. He became interested and opened up to my program after seeing Pearl’s improvement.
Soon, Pearl was considered “The Miracle Cat” as it was unheard of for a cat with feline infectious peritonitis to survive more than a few months.
She was recently retested for the progression of this disease and her number has been cut in half! 360 were his original numbers. They are now at 160…a few numbers outside of the ‘carrier’ range!
Pearl is now “thick” and all her other tests are normal. The only symptom she is showing now is hind leg weakness which the vet believes is due to prolonged use of prednisone which she will continue to take until her numbers are in the normal range.
In the last six months, some veterinary assistants have used the same treatment for cats with leukemia, a deadly disease, as well as other animals with other health problems. The treated animals made a full recovery and were doing quite well.
In the case of a human subject, a friend suggested this regimen to her 75-year-old grandmother, a stroke victim, who was left totally paralyzed. The doctors gave him little hope. Now, that woman walks with a cane, which is mainly for emotional support and safety. This woman no longer talks about “ending her life” but about the gossip at the hair salon she still walks to daily!
I decided to use this health system for myself, after having health problems over the years. I have felt a great improvement and vitality since I use Holistic and Natural Medicine.
I have come to see this whole experience as a life learning lesson, with my kitty, Pearl, being my teacher!
I think the point is to understand that we need BOTH natural and western medicines, which I integrated for Pearl’s treatment. I needed both to improve; one or the other probably would not have been enough.
Fifteen months have passed since Pearl was diagnosed with FIP. Experts said that she would have been gone for over a year, but she is still with us and she is getting stronger and healthier every day. I still have her on the show and she still runs when she sees that damn dropper coming. But it’s okay, because after she takes her medicine, I give her treats and tell her how much I love her and thank her for being my gift and messenger from the Divine.
UPDATE! Since the original publication of this article, Pearl has passed away and the treatment she received extended her life by two and a half years. I am thankful for the gift of having such a loving and special friend in my life, who brought me so much joy. Through her illness, she helped many, and especially me, who was hurt and touched by having her in my life.
