Runescape Fletching Guide

1. Introduction to Fletching

Fletching is one of the most respected skills in Runescape due to its quick XP earning, it makes a lot of money, and it can make you rich with the right skills. So you want to know what feathering is? Well Fletching is an ability that allows you to craft your own ranged weapons, including special bolts, arrows, bows, and darts. And all you need is a shaft (for cutting trees) and a knife for your basic equipment.

2. Skills needed to do more in this skill

The skills you most want to have as they will make feathering easier are chopping wood (to get the wood), blacksmithing (to get the arrowheads, etc.), mining (to get minerals for the bars), combat (to get the feathers of the chickens!) and magic (for bows for $$).

3. Make arrows

First you will have to start making arrows. (When you cut a log you will get 15 arrows per log).

Get your wood chopping ax to cut down a normal tree.

After that, take out your knife and use the knife on the trunk and you will get a menu and choose the axes of the arrows.

Then get the feathers from the chickens, kill them, take their feathers and use the axes on the feathers or vice versa.

Go get your pickaxe and mine tin and copper ores (this is your first time) and turn them into bars and forge with arrowheads (requires 5 blacksmiths).

Finally use the heads of the headless arrows and you will get your arrows!

Here’s a table of all the other arrows and what levels of blacksmithing you need to forge the arrowheads.

4. Make bows

Well, when you finally reach level 5, you can start making bows! Bowing is one of the simplest things to do and it increases your XP quickly by doing this. This is how most people make most of their money and get millions of gp! So below is how to make bows.

At level 5, start by getting a full inventory of normal records

Then take your knife out of the bench and cut all the logs into short bows without strings.

Go to Seers Village and collect flax then go to a spinning wheel and spin the flax (lvl 5 crafting required) to make a bowstring

Use the bowstring with the bow and to make a short bow with strings.

5. Manufacture of special screws

Do you think that only feathering is for making arrows and bows? Incorrect !!! You can also make special bolts that are more powerful than the normal bolt. You can make 3 different screws: opal-tip, pearl-tip, and barbed-tipped screws. Below are 3 little guides on how to do them.

Note: You can only get normal bolts from the archery shops in Varrock and Catherby, as well as from monster drops. There are also comebacks in some laces in the desert.

Opal Tip Bolts:

Go to Shilo Village and mine some of the gemstones there. You will need to have finished the Shilo Village Quest to enter.

Use a chisel with the opals to cut and once again to make opal points. You get 2 tips per gem.

Use the opal tips with some regular studs and you will have opal tip studs.

Pearl-tipped bolts:

Go oyster fishing (hard to find some with a pearl on them, but keep trying).

When you have an oyster with a pearl, use a chisel and you will get a pearl. Use the chisel again and you will have some pearl tips. Each pearl gives 2 points.

Use the pearl tips on a regular stud and you will have some pearl tipped studs.

Barbed Tip Bolts

Go to the Guild from a distance and shoot the targets until you have 140 tickets.

Go exchange your tickets for 30 Barb Tips.

Use your barbed tips on some normal bolts and you will have some barbed tip bolts.

6. Make darts

Darts is the last item you can do in Fletching. People don’t really make darts as they are hard to make, but not that hard as all you have to do is get some dart tips and put feathers on them.

Note: You must have completed Tourist Trap Quest to make Darts.
