Retrograde planets and the cycles of 2010

The Universe moves in cycles and rhythm.

The planets of the solar system revolve around the Sun beginning and completing endless cycles with themselves and with other planets. There is daylight and darkness, waking and sleeping, and the cycle of the seasons. The tides come in and go out. The beats of your heart and your breathing are rhythms and are the essence of life.

Seen from Earth, the planets appear to move forward and then backward in the sky. When we reverse direction or cease our forward motion in response to planetary motion, we are acting in accordance with the rhythms of the Universe.

Nature does not operate on a 24/7 always-on schedule.

Even when subjected to a challenging and long lasting outer planetary transit, there are periods of higher and lower intensity. An outer planet will go forward, then backward, forward, then retrograde. Pluto, for example, can come and go over a single point up to five times.

This is important to keep in mind when there are periods of intense change like the Cardinal Climax we are experiencing from 2008 to 2015.

Between the peaks there are intervals of calm.

Just like a long-distance runner, it’s important to pace yourself.

During this time of rapid change, every one of the outer planets, with the exception of Neptune, is involved. The very core of our society is being transformed.

The Earth and the way we live on it have become seriously unbalanced. American society, politics, business, and finance have also become severely unbalanced with the vast majority of resources flowing upwards to a small number, while even previously comfortable middle-class people struggle to survive.

We’ll get a taste of the retrogression this summer when all the planets from Jupiter outwards, with the exception of Neptune, advance into the early degrees of the cardinal signs. And then, mercifully, Saturn, Uranus and Jupiter go back and back to the previous signs.

But between now and spring, at least one personal planet will be retrograde. Many people get impatient at the idea. They think it means putting their lives on hold. Their impatience is compounded by the fact that some planets like Mars increase the likelihood of ill-considered and premature action.

Be grateful for this retrograde time and use it wisely. It is time to strengthen your center and your foundations. Reconsider your actions/direction (Mars retrograde), reevaluate your values and relationships (Venus), and reevaluate your thinking and communication (Mercury).
