Metal Promotions: Top 5 Production Methods

Using metal to make your promotional products is a sure way to make sure they stand out above your average cheap giveaway. Metal promotional products like: pins, key chains, and badges are stylish, durable, and surprisingly affordable. The results of using metal can give you a product that radiates a real, high-quality substance to see and hold. Production methods often depend on the suitability of the custom design; The following production methods should be considered during your pre-production process.

Printed Metal

This method allows your design to be printed directly onto metal. This method is one of the cheapest options for personalized metal keyrings and benefits designs too complex to be stamped, cast, or engraved. Printing can be done on sheet metal or on a preformed key ring. Epoxy coating is available to protect and illuminate colors.

Sheet metal stamping

There are many different metals that can be made into sheet metal. Sheet metal is essentially any metal that is formed into thin / flat pieces. Although the thickness (gauge) can vary considerably, it is pretty safe to say that it will vary between 1mm and 4mm.

Stamping sheet metal to shape can be an accurate and cost-effective production method. The stamping process we use presses the blank metal against a powerful die that pierces the metal to create its predetermined shape. The die is a specialized tool that is customized to your individual product and then mounted in a press that stamps the metal.

The process can be a single stage, producing the desired prints in one go, or a series of stamps to produce a more complex design. After stamping, individual areas of the design can be filled with colored resins and finished with clear epoxy for a durable finish. The advantages of this method are great consistency at a low manufacturing cost. Custom metal forging at the best price!

Die casting

Die casting is essentially the process we use on all metal too thick to be stamped or any 3D design. This process is unrivaled in its ability to reliably and cost-effectively produce high-quality metal products. We can melt a variety of metals, from aluminum, steel, stainless steel, lead, and iron.

It is the foundry equipment and the configuration of the die that represent the main costs involved in this production. Unit prices on high-volume orders can be minimal because they spread the cost of installation. The benefits of die casting are its fantastic quality surface finish and unmatched consistency.

Gravure allows your design to be etched with a chemical / acid solution rather than being tapped or printed. Similar to stamped keychains; To add color, we can then fill each recessed area with a colored resin and coat the surface with clear enamel. This brightens the appearance of your product and adds a protective layer to your keychain.

Rotating casting

Spin Casting is a commonly used metal alloy production method. Metal can be easily hollowed out to reproduce complex 3D designs. Production can take longer than other methods, but the results are beautifully crafted 3D metal designs.

With all custom shaped keyrings, the main cost of production comes from the setup work of the printing or die cutting facility. After die casting, the production process is relatively straightforward. For this reason, the process lends itself to high-volume production, where large-quantity orders can benefit from increasingly lower unit prices.
