Craft Fair Friday – Glass Pebble Magnet

Today, I am posting a tutorial for glass pebble magnets. I have received many requests on how to make them for craft fairs. These magnets are a great sale for craft fairs. They are quick and easy to do, so it is a good use of time for a provider. They are also inexpensive to make. And they sell like CRAZY. Some bosses will buy 20 to 30 magnets to use as gifts, classroom treats, or stocking fillers. So without any further talk, here it is:

Stampin ‘Up! Supplies:

  • 1 inch glass pebbles (Dollar Tree, about 30 in a bag).
  • Crystal effects
  • 1 “circular punch
  • Designer series paper (DSP) / patterned paper of your choice
  • Glue gun
  • High-energy magnetic buttons [craft magnets] (Michaels 50 pack for about $ 7)

Instructions:

  1. Punch 1 “circles with your favorite Designer Series paper or patterned paper.
  2. Put a little stamp on Stampin ‘Up! Glass effects on the paper and firmly press the glass pebble on top. (I was amazed at how little it takes for it to spread out and cover the entire circle.)
  3. Let dry (takes no more than a few minutes).
  4. Flip the pebbles and hot glue magnets on the back of the pebble.
  5. Enjoy the finished magnets!

I really enjoyed making these magnets and I know you will too. They are a great return on investment for art fair vendors. I priced them $ 1 to sell at craft fairs.

Here is the cost breakdown:

  • Magnets $ 7 for 50
  • $ 2 mini glue gun (had no idea they were so cheap now!)
  • Glue sticks $ 2
  • Crystal Effects from Stampin ‘Up! ($ 6.25, but I already had this)
  • Patterned Scraps of Paper – Free of My Leftover Card Making Stash
  • Pebbles $ 1 for 30-ish (I bought 2 bags to use with all the magnets)

If you’re starting from scratch, expect to spend $ 20 for the first batch of 30 magnets. As you continue to make them, they will become less expensive to make since you already have the materials you need to make the glass pebble magnets.

How to show:

I display the glass pebble magnets on metal cookie sheets at the dollar store. This is a cheap way to show them off; You can rest the tray on your vendor’s table to capture the attention of customers as they pass by. Because the cookie sheets are metal, the magnets will stay in place in whatever arrangement you choose.
