Club Lime Still Best clubbing spot in Phuket

Go back a few years and the nightclubs in Phuket were in a desperate state. There was nothing but cheesy pop and techno, along with clubs playing local rock and country music. Times have changed, and visitors to Phuket now have a far superior selection of clubs to choose from, and no place does it better than Club Lime in Patong.

What Phuket lacked for a long time was a place that championed the best sounds of dance music. It was possible to listen to crazy techno chipmunk music, but for something with a little more soul, you had to look in Bangkok or outside of Thailand. There is currently a small group of DJs in Phuket who have been steadily helping to build a vibrant clubbing scene in Phuket.

Club Lime first opened its doors a couple of years ago. The club was stylish and a far cry from the typical beer halls and cheesy nightclubs Phuket is famous for. Club Lime was more like the type of place you would find in England or America. Had the drink prices to match but it was hard to complain due to the music policy.

From the beginning, the people behind Club Lime set out to hire serious DJs who are passionate about the music they play. DJs like Eddy and D[r]eadmongey rose to fame at Club Lime, playing everything from house to techno. But Club Lime did not stop there. Every week it was possible to listen to breaks, electro and even drum n bass.

What has helped cement Club Lime’s reputation has been the string of quality DJs hired to play from abroad. These include everyone from Barry Ashworth and Jo Mills to the Kraft Kuts and Inland Knights. These were DJs who might have previously played on Koh Samui, but no one was interested in bringing them to Phuket.

The only problem Club Lime has run into has been attracting a constant crowd of people on quieter nights. On weekends the club has almost always been full, but during the week, except for the occasional group of tourists, the numbers are usually no more than 20 or so.

However, the same can be said for many clubs in Bangkok. It takes a big night to get people to make the effort. Club Lime remains one of the most enjoyable nightspots in Phuket and one only hopes it remains so.
