A retro-styled Mustang available in 2010

Ford intends to produce a retro-styled Mustang to captivate the fetishes of car enthusiasts. The planned version of the Mustang will start with a Bullitt edition and will be introduced next year. The automaker also plans to add a high-performance version of the Lincoln MKS.

Jeff Wood, Ford Motor Co. Vehicle Program Director, said: “A different Mustang package will be featured each year through 2010. We are not just going to post it and let it die – a slow death. We will continue to upgrade this Mustang every year. In 2007, the new Bullitt version of the Mustang will come out, and I wish I could talk about years 08, 09 and 10. “Wood also announced that Lincoln Town Car and MKS will be powered by a high-performance package.

The Bullitt Edition combines quality parts from the 1966 Ford Mustang with other auto parts from the automaker. This edition has a special interior and tread design, lowered suspension and a unique wheel design. It also uses the powerful V8 engine to produce more than 310 horsepower.

The name ‘Bullitt’ comes from the 1968 movie. It’s where Steve McQueen has driven a dark green Mustang fastback. Ford already sold a Bullitt version of the previous generation Mustang in 2001. The version is equipped with the plastic wings and ground effect add-ons that are common to special edition Mustangs. In addition, it is given the signature dark green paint, retro-style gauges and seats, and a refined steel fuel door.

The current production Mustang went on sale last year. In addition, the automaker believes that this is the most opportune time to present a retro Mustang. Rather than the designers of the Ford company, the automaker relied on the artistic capabilities of Italdesign Giugiaro, a design company that has sculpted vehicles for many of the world’s automakers.

Wood did not elaborate on upcoming Lincoln versions. However, he said that the regular version of the Lincoln car will go on sale next year. The 2008 model is equipped with a six-cylinder or V8. The Ford-Yamaha company intends to produce an engine that produces 311 horsepower.
